A New Year and New Doors

Happy New Year! I wanted to write and give you a sneak peak at some of the exciting things that are coming to Victory Acres in this new year.

  1. EGGS!! Our new flock of chickens is beginning to lay beautiful brown eggs! (Yesterday, it was up to 17 for the daily total.) With over 120 chickens, we will soon be OVERRUN with farm-fresh eggs. That could be both a problem (for us) and an opportunity (for you.) If you would like to sign up to our “ADOPT A HEN” program, we will put you at the head of the line. You can pick up your eggs weekly in a special, designated location and receive a DISCOUNT on our regular retail price. Why would we do that? Because we need to have a committed base for our egg operation to work effectively. Without you, our farm friends, supporting our operation, we will just end up with a lot of spoiled, worthless eggs! You can click here to get more details or to sign up.

  2. A FARMHOUSE We will soon have space for guests in the farmhouse built in 1893 by my Great-great grandfather. We plan to update this space to share with short term guests and retreat participants. If you would like to help us with this effort, we could use some volunteers! If you’re in the area and need a place to stay, the Himelick Homeplace will soon be available to guests.
  1. Early Morning Prayer: Victory Acres now has a regular early morning prayer meeting at 6:30am Tuesday and Thursday mornings. No need to RSVP, just join us at the Prayer Chapel as we seek God together.

We continue planning for spring and more greenhouse growing. If you’re interested in growing with us, we could all get our hands dirty together! (Right now, our harvest is primarily supplying our friends at Taylor University’s Dining service.)

  1. Nehemiah Discipleship Program Our next training program is slated to begin April 23, 2021. If you or someone you know would like to apply, please contact us or email: director@victoryacres.org. Space is limited, but we are looking for serious disciples to apply. After our initial pilot “experience” last fall, we are excited to see how God leads in this bright new year!

Thank you for standing with us over the years. It is hard to believe that we are entering our 16th growing season as a farm! Seeing the vision take shape that God gave to me back in that first prayer retreat in October 2005 is incredibly fulfilling. Step by step, it is taking shape.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped in one way or another across the years – friends, neighbors, volunteers, supporters, and faithful farm store customers – you have all had a part in bringing us to this milestone.

May God richly bless you.

In Christian Love,

Eric Himelick, Director
